I like Shoei helmets, their build quality is top shelf, however they are not inexpensive. I normally ride with a Shoei Neotec (Full Face Modular), but on hot summer days I prefer a 3/4. The Shoei 3/4 lids here in the USA that you can buy are the either the RJ or J-Cruise, both relatively heavy, complex helmets.

Shoei makes the J.O. series retro 3/4 helmet for Europe, its not sold here in the USA. I ordered one from an Italian dealership and it arrived in a week. Very nice and light, has an integrated, drop - down face shield / sun visor, color matches up well with my 2017 Road Glide Special. Fits true to size, very comfortable. No DOT Stickers or Snell, but it is a Shoei, and they don't put out junk.

If this appeals to you - here's the vendor in Italy, good people to do business with:

There was a post a while ago about Torc helmets being recalled in the US because they failed some safety standard.

My favorite 3/4 helmet was given to me from a guy I worked with almost 30 years ago. A blue metal flake job from the 70's. He didn't ride anymore, and it wasn't so big so as to make your head look like a mushroom like they do now. Wore it until it had stretched out to the point to where I couldn't secure it with the double d-rings without it flopping around.

I've tried on several different brands of full-face helmet and I can't make myself wear one long enough to walk around the shop. Guess I'll hit Cycle Gear up next week and try some 3/4's on. Wonder if they'll let me take them for a test ride ...

FWIW, if you're gonna look at some 3/4 helmets, I've had good luck with the Fulmer V2 helmets...decent quality and fit my head well.

Back around 73 or 74, I started wearing Arthur Fulmer AF 40 helmets and I've wore them until 2001 some time or another they dropped the name Arthur, but I have nothing bad to say about Fulmer helmets.

It's not wind buffeting as the helmet doesn't move, just my jaw.

Is that normal?
Chin strap is to loose!
