Well next weekend I am going to be taking a nice trip to the beach for the weekend I was supposed to catch a ride with my friends but they plan on leaving earlier than I am able to... I would LOVE to take my bike down there, but the highway still kind of spooks me so I don't want to ride on it if i don't have too.
Anyways long story short does anyone know of a "mapquest" like website that will deliver will allow you to use no highways or at least as little as possible?
This would also help when planning longer rides in the countryside.
I'd rather ride the interstate....Much safer, IMO.......Sure, the traffic is moving faster, but nobody will be making left turns in front of you, crossing the center line and hitting you head on, backing out of driveways, coming around blind curves and smacking you, the interstate has fences on the side to keep livestock, and most animals out of your path.....But, hey, that's just me talking...
I've been riding for about a year now and the highway still gets me nervous, not only because of the speed, but because of all the potholes that I can't avoid doing 70mph.
But anyway back to yoru question you can use mapquest and when you search for directions just select the Avoid Highways option and poof there you go. Are you coming down to the jersey shore? If so let me know I'm about 45 minutes from there I wouldnt mind meeting up somewhere with you and taking a ride down with you.
