Default Which is it?

Is your Harley a toy or your primary mode of transportation?

To qualify as primary you simply need to put more miles on your bike annually than your alternate form of transportation.

For science. Anonymously.

25K a year in my bikes, 600 a year on my truck - mostly by people that borrow it. I only take the truck to work when it is raining heavily when I leave, which doesn't happen often.

The bikes are my RV's on days off and for the occasional week long trips.

I'm retired, but never commuted here anyway, did in other states, but Minnesota drivers were too scary for me in packed freeway rush hour. Last year I put less than 1000 miles on my van, had to use a battery tender on it in the summer 'cause it would sit so long, used my Ural sidecar rig for anything I'd have to carry, like groceries. Put more miles on Harleys, though, never did 100 miles at a stretch on that Russian beast, butt can't take it. Winters in the frozen North mandate 3 or 4 wheels for primary transportation, and the salt would kill the 3 wheeler real quick. If an SUV didn't get it first...

In the summer it's my primary transportation. When it gets dark before I get out of work and temps are in the 30s it goes into storage. Having a dog has cut down on my riding too.

So I don't consider it a toy, but I put a lot more miles on my car, than my truck, than my bike.

My boats are toys.

It's not my main transportation. I ride mostly on the weekends which averages 200+ miles.

The riding season is year long, but three kids in elementary school keep me in the toy category.

Used to commute by bike most of the time, so I was about 75% bike, 25% cage. Since I retired, it's been about 60% bike, 30% RV, 10% car. I plan on changing that to 80% bike, 10% RV and 10% car for the next couple years.
