Looking today at different makers of quick release saddle bag hardware. I thought it would be easier to clean the back spokes and WW if I could remove the bags for the job.
I see several different makers of this type hardware. They all have one thing in common that I don't like. I didn't see any that locked to the point a thief could not just come along and quickly remove your bag and off they go.
Is there a type that can be locked so you can remove the bags but not just anyone else, and not stick way out from the fender?
Brukus seems to be difficult to get to. Their site was not up and running this morning. Are they still in business?
I looked but couldn't find anything that I thought was secure or for that matter worth the money they wanted just to save me a few minutes unbolting them.
So I decided to just take the extra 5 minutes and unbolt the bags whenever I wash the bike.
I am using Easy quick release brackets. They work fine but they stick out a bit. This is an issue for riders who like looks over function. In most cases, you need to relocate the signals. http://www.greatbikegear.com/

Have you looked at ez brackets? Inexpensive and locking. Easy on easy off. They'll get into your bags before they get them off. Should be some pics of them on my old fatboy in the link in my sig.
I used Allen head shoulder bolts I sourced from McMaster Carr...I use a long Allen ball socket and my Milwaukee 3/8" cordless impact driver to go on and off with them. Easy peasy and secure.

I did see those and thought they spaced the bags a bit more than I liked from the fender. Maybe the picture exaggerate the distance?
HD makes docking hardware for softails and touring models. You can change out the latches to a new locking latch that uses keys. You get the best of both worlds with this set up, removable within seconds and lockable.
