My FL Shovel is open the cap and look inside...but it has reserve anyway.
My '93 Evo gas gauge is still dead accurate at over 100,000 miles, and has reserve also.
I probably just screwed myself posting this on Friday the 13th.
Thanks a lot.
While a gas gauge is nice and handy, I never trust them. I have an app called Fuel Buddy I use to track all my fuel usage. I reset the odometer to zero each fill up, so I know what I have, what I use, and when to refuel. I believe it is really important that everyone know what the fuel tank holds, roughly their gas mileage, and use the odometer as their fuel gauge. The dash gauge is nice reference, but I always check the mileage. Good luck to those of you trying to get your gauges figured out. I know I would want the dang things to at least work half-a$$!
Follow up, took the bike to Woodlands HD dealer this morning to get the bikes first 1000 mike service. Its first come first served on Saturdays, was there early and was first in line. Dropped it off, told the service writer what I was there for and the the issue with the gauge.
Bike was done by noon, serviced completed and washed. He said everything looked good, however the gauge was bad. He ordered a new one, should be in by next week.
Said he sees the issue every so often and that most go by mileage. Still, I agree it should be better than it is so we will see.
