So last week I was reading the "Stop Light Sharing" post.
I actually like the differing views weather I agree with them or not. Thank God we all don't think alike!
Anyway - Last nite the wife and I on the way to a fish fry cruising down a good county road. I get joined on my right side by an open piped heritage.
A guy and his ole lady. He joined me side by side. I usually prefer staggered in most situations. There are a couple friends that I will ride side by side.
He was running open pipes and it was interupting the Nickelback "Rock Star" happy haze I was in. It was a perfect evening for a ride!
I thought about the "Stop Light Sharing Post" realizing I had options in my responses and just looked over at the other couple and smiled. It was not going to ruin my ride and I did not feel like He put me in a higher level of risk. If I felt that way I would of backed off and let him go ahead. He held his lane well and I relaxed and enjoyed the duet of the engines. As we approached curves he backed off and rolled through them behind me. After a couple of miles they smiled threw us the peace sign and turned off. The wife asked me if I would ever roll up next to someone like that - Nope, I wouldn't. But thats me. We continued on to our fish fry andhad an awesome night!
Point is I'm glad I have this forum. It has let me see a variety of ways to look at the experiences we all have and how we let them effect our decisions we make while riding. I'm sure others would have reacted different and thats ok!
I don't like it when people I don't know do that to me. Hell I don't really like it when people I know do that to me. But I usually won't start **** or anything. I just slow down and let them go ahead or I will speed up suddenly and they usually get the point.
Good on you for not letting it ruin your day, life is short.
I've doe it a few times while rolling down the highway and come up on another bike or two
and I have had it done to me most of the time by patch holders but on occasion a few independants will ...........
I like riding side by side with people I know.Just makes the ride more fun when you can shoot the **** along the way.I've had people pull up next to me like that before and as long as they hold their line it's all good. I personally would not do this to someone I don't know just because I know most guys don't normally ride like that and I don't want to freak them out.
I guess it does depend on who your riding beside of if you feel like your safe doing so. I like to do it because it's fun and I know that they are certain risk's involved. But riding a motorcycle is a risk. I only ride beside someone that I trust to ride beside of. You can tell if the person your beside of can handle it or not, and usually only for short distances, mostly in town.
