Default GPS options

What do you guys do for multistop trips for directions. I usually just point my bike in a certain direction and go but this coming yr want to try out some restaurants I see on tv great eats programs. Didn't know there where any phone apps where you could download a ride from a computer? I've looked into GPS units but wondered if I could use my phone instead of spending the bucks on one of those. Just can't seem to find any app that can handle multiple stops but at the same be flexible. Thanks.

At the price of motorcycle GPS, I just bought a auto GPS with blue tooth and suits me just fine. I have a Bluetooth 40.00 head set in my helmet and with my cell phone and GPS I can listen to radio, make calls , receive calls and choose recent destinations from my GPS. I just speak into the mic in my head set and they do what I need . Between the head set, phone and GPS they all work together....it turned out to be a pretty cool set up. It's not waterproof so I carry a ziplock bag and cover it if I get caught in the rain. It's a Garmin Nubia, I forgot which one but it's the least expensive one with Bluetooth, I think it was just under 200.00 I'll add pics later today

I think you can do it on your phone with the WAZE app but not 100% sure about it. I do know you can program a destination in and then add stops along the way. Plus it gives you a heads up on traffic jams and speed traps.

I`m gonna use just a plain old tomtom that was on sale at walmart for $80. it has a suction mount that should mount to the inside of the windshield. thought about using the maps on my iphone but that uses a lot of data and battery. ive used the map on my phone for work and have found that if you get into an area that doesn't have good cell service the app doesn't work worth a crap and it sucks down battery life cause its constantly searching for service. if it rains I`ll just throw it in the saddlebag til it stops

Google Maps on your phone, headphones in your ear, or connect to your bike's audio. You can do multi-stops on a route, then I think you have to hit "resume" or some such thing at each stop. Free and effective.

www.myrouteapp.com to plan the route on a computer and their app on the phone, routes show up in both places. Use a Ram Mount cell phone holder to keep the phone on your bars and you're good to go.

If you have a cigarette lighter socket, you can always plug in your phone, so it won't kill your battery, and use Maps on it. I'm planning on installing one on mine, and my son already got me a phone mount, which is already on it, along with a stereo, so I can have everything go through the speakers or my bluetooth headset. That's the plan, anyway. I also have a Garmin GPS that was a "prize" I won at the Christmas party from a previous employer, but I don't think it's waterproof, and I'd have to make sure it will fit in my phone mount (I think it's a little wider than my phone is sideways). Of course, for about $5, you can get a waterproof "bag" that should fit the GPS, like it would your phone.

You can do multiple stops with Google maps.

I use an Android app called CoPilot - allows local storage of maps, so no internet connection required (sometimes handy for off the cuff route changes in areas with no service). You can build your own routes online on the pc and import them to the app.

Also just got introduced to Here app on Android - completely free option that uses locally stored maps. Haven't used it yet - not sure about importing routes on that one.
