Just bought a new 2007 Street Glide. I heard both sides of the story but wanted more input.Upgrades. Which is better, Race Tuner or Power Commander? And is it true, if race tuner is installed, only a dealer can ad more upgrades? Thnx
I can't say which is better cause I only have experience with the power commander, but for my 2007 ultra, the installation took me about 15 minutes and it works great. No problems at all.
SERT is more tunable.......but, as explained to me by Dr. Dyno, (writer for American Iron magazine)people who are not seriously racing their bikes don't need the SERT. The Power Commander is capable of a good enough tune for theaverage rider & is easier/less time consumingto tune. With the Power Commander, the bike can be run on the Dynamometer & returned to an idle. Then the map can be adjusted while the bike is still running & then another dyno run again, then more adjustments, etc. That can't be done with the SERT. The bike has to be shut down between runs for the adjustments to be made. (much more time consuming) As he stated, "time is money" & the longer it takes him to tune the bike the more it will cost the owner of the bike.
My conversation with Dr. Dyno was after I already had the SERT on my bike, so I'm not stating the above because I have a Power Commander &I am biased toward them.
