I have a 2000 deuce that I cannot get to start. I started if bi weekly all last summer up until sept . The battery was dead so I removed it and charged and checked . reinstalled battery bike would not start. It was starting ok up until that time . Could I have left a wire off when reinstalling battery? It spins over good but never hits, I replaced the plugs, still nothing. Not sure if it has fire to plugs yet . Would it hurt to give it a shot of either? andy help appreciated tks
If this isn't the problem, either fuel isn't reaching the engine (assuming that the tank is full), or you've lost spark. I'd pull the plugs and check for spark. If the bike is carbed, make sure gas is flowing from the petcock to the carb. If it's injected, can your hear the pump run when the ignition is turned on? If not, check the pump fuse. If you have spark at the plugs, try cranking the engine while you spray a little starting fluid in the carb.
If you took the battery out of the bike and weren't careful (took the positive lead off first) you may have shorted a circuit to ground and opened a fuse. Check all your fuses and look for any loose leads near the battery.
