Thanks everyone for all the great advice. I like H2o idea the most. Going to call the closest dealer and see if I can store for a month or two. Then when the weather turns I can put in a great ride back home.
Good luck on getting the local dealer to store it. I shipped my ultra home last month and used my local dealer to hold it for pick up and they got nervous holding it for the three days it took the shipper to pick up. Mainly worried about the bike getting damaged or me blaming them for something.
I used AAtransport which was cheap ($550 for 2200 miles) and enclosed where they put the bike on a pallet and secured it. It took them awhile to get it home but wasn’t worried about that but they did subcontract as a broker. I’m not a fan of that and would have rather used a direct but most wanted $1000 or more.
Also if they strap it to a pallet make sure they put it in transport mode or you’ll have a dead battery when you get it. My dealer put it in transport mode but some douche turned the bike on at some point in shipping (prolly to load it on the pallet) and killed it.
