I guess all stations may be a little different. Mine has me go down the street about 30 yards turn around come back about 25 mph, hit my brakes at a certain spot and stop within so many feet. Then its, horn, front and back brake light check. Thats all.

Place I go to. Roll in. Show DL and proof of insurance. Pay the $7.00. Get Your Receipt and roll out. I noticed while I was there. They are stricter on cages. Texas law changed last year or two. Used to you got inspection and they put inspection sticker on at the inspection station. Now you get a receipt for inspection and you show that when you register the vehicle. Now. You just have one sticker instead of two. One for inspection and one for registration before.

Seems here in the bayous we get an inspection done at the dealer when buying a bike, but I don't know anybody that renews it after it expires, lol. I don't think it's required for re-registering or insurance purposes. I bought a vw trike from Texas two yrs ago and registered here in Louisiana without ever getting it inspected, and then got insurance for it. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't pass, no fenders, no front brake. I guess it's not enforced around here. No problems with cops,,,,,,, yet

Yep, follow the money. Believe me, a life long California tax paying *****, if there's money to be squeezed from people, California will find it. They've got their sights on bigger things like illegal immigration and guns.

Speaking of Dallas, any of you guys ever ride though the city?
I came through there today and its worse than Chicago.
You Texas drivers are nuts.

It's not Texas drivers - It's DALLAS. Our oldest, his wife, and 3 of our grandchildren live north of Dallas. If not for that I would never go through there again.

Last time I rode through Dallas on 75 I was doing 5 above the limit.....and was getting passed like I was sitting still. Throw in the odd drunk/high driver and it made for an interesting ride.

Of all the lousy things California has going there are two good things I can say about it.
They don't mess with the bikes and they have a lot of cool riding routes

Everything north of I-20 up to 380 is sketchy on a motorcycle alone. In a group is better, but most groups I know will by-pass downtown via the george bush or 635 loop. North and south of that is usually ok. West boarder I would say I35W and to the east would be at least the 635 east loop. I dont ride north of I20 very often at all... the rare weekend morning to get north of town, never during the week in traffic. Going threw downtown is really bad all the time. Just not safe.

Houston is pretty bad, but the traffic is so terrible there its hard to get any speed to really act like a jack ***.

To the OP: I live south in a city called Red Oak. If you get south of I20 its a bit calmer, but you will want to get down into Ellis County. South Dallas county is the suburbs of the south dallas slums. Ellis county has a lot lower crime, lower taxes than Dallas County, etc... 30 minute run into downtown, 35 minutes to Love field, 45 minutes to DFW airport... BUT if you need to go up north very often I dont think I would live south. If I needed to be on the north side(mckinny, allan, denton, etc...) I would live north of 380(anna, melissa, prospery, aubrey, pilot point, etc...).

Well thanks to all the people who have moved here in the last few years, it's gotten pretty bad. Everyone wants to be first in line
