I'm fortunate to live in a somewhat rural area and I can take a "Sunday" ride on two lane, county roads or quite a few miles and has several little bars that are rarely busy through the week but have some pretty good crowds on holidays and weekends.
I'm to the point now that taking longer trips is much more fun than just riding in little circles, looking at the same scenery.
I like the North end of Natchez Trace Parkway if I want to take a short ride. I get on at Hwy 100 and ride south and get off at the Liepers Fork exit. Some good twisties and scenery.
South Louisiana doesn't have a whole lot of twisty roads, so you take what you can. My go to 70 mile loop is from New Iberia to Loreauville to Catahoula, then take Section 28 road to Nursery Hwy to Henderson, then take the levee road down to Coteau Holmes, then down to Daspit, and back to New Iberia. A few tight turns and some nice sweepers.
My favorite for a nice day of riding is the Peak to peak Highway from Golden, CO to Estes Park. Get lunch in Estes and then head back.
Wow.. Does that bring back memories. I learned how to shoot a handgun in Clear Creek Canyon. I was a student in Golden. One day I went to Gart Brothers to buy a gun. When I went to check out, they told me I couldn't buy it with an out of state license. So I went to the motor vehicles, got a CO license, went back to Gart Brothers and was shooting at Coors cans in the Canyon 3 hours later that Saturday.
I had sold my 650 in order to get a car so I could go to school 2000 miles away... I did think about riding Rt 6 when I was there.

Hwy 33 out of Ojai, CA is my favorite ride and I ride it often. It is considered one of the best roads in the US for sports cars and bikes. It's a great road with stunning views and works with every skill level, except those who go too fast.
There are several ways to approach it depending if I want to spend a half day or whole day riding.
There is a great pull out where on a clear day you can look out over the ocean and see several of our coastal islands.
Unfortunately, we get a lot of riders from Los Angeles who come up on their crotch rockets to test their skills. This one didn't make it. That happens at least once per month.

My go to ride is a 45 minute ride west to a forestry campground.
I fill the bags with enough grub for dinner, maybe some firewood and head out with my wife on the back.
So Cal..... Hwy 2 thru Angeles Forest.... Well known So Cal bike and car hot spot.... Food spot Newcombs Ranch for drinks and food..... This route has been a fave since a kid..... So many great routes to tie into easily can make it a great all day ride.... Every WOT rip thru the tunnels makes me a kid again.... Always a great ride to blow out the webs...... Always go weekdays nowadays to avoid the squids and run into the OGs....
I'm lucky. I've got a national forest less than a one hour scenic drive from the house. Once there, I do a 15 mile each way through some decent twisties up to a lake.
Gone from the house less than two hours (unless I stop for lunch), and get a total wind therapy reset out of it.
Living in San Jose, we most often go up Kings mountain and ride Skyline Blvd, aka 35, to Woodside. We pass Alices and head down the mountain to highway 1 and ride the coast to Davenport and have breaks at at Whale Cote Cafe that faces the ocean. We can do that ride year round, though March is pretty rainy.
We usually do it in about 4-5 hours and that includes breakfast.
