oil level

I have a 2017 heritage and am checking the oil level while cold and on the jiffy stand. It is exactly on the hot mark. How far down the stick should the oil be when cold? maybe half way between the fill mark and the hot mark? Not sure how much the syn3 expands and don't want to overfill. Thanks in advance for any answers

I shoot for about half way or maybe a bit more, and also check it hot just to verify.
Overfilling can cause issues.

RTFM is the answer. Read The F..ing Manual..As always the best solution.

I run my Rk 1/2 quart low, When I run full I get some blow back through the TB.

I have a 17 Heritage Softail Classic. Sometimes I check my oil when cold because I can't always remember to check it hot like the manual says. When full cold, mine reads halfway between full and add. Just to be sure I checked it that way, warmed it up and checked it hot and it was right on the full mark. Not sure if it makes any difference but I run Mobil 1 V-twin 20w50.
