'07 Ultra here and it gets hot but not overheating. I'm still running stock and travel the 280 in B'ham, AL nothing but lights can get a little toasty at times but haven't failed yet.
Ratherride hot on a Harley than ride coolon animitation!
With an outlook like that what reason does the MoCo have to fix it. I question why the imitation is able to make a bike of similar quality and no heat issues for half the price.
Don't get me wrong. I love HD. It's an American made product (for the most part) and I do fall for the bike has "soul" bit, however it has cost me an extra 10 grand on a 22 grand bike to really make it my own. Other companies can build EPA compliant bikes without the issues, just like in the 60s and 70s other companies could build bikes that didn't leak a quart of oil on a ride or require you to be a mechanic to own one. That almost caused HD to take a dump.
Right now I'd imagine 50% of the people that buy HDs are buying a garage ornament. If that market everdries up then HD better be prepared with a solid product for the masses that actually do ride. They are going to need to steal actual riders from the metrics and be mindful of solid American competitors like Victory.

Excellent comments, and your prediction may be coming true sooner than any of us think. The '08 announcement is coming in a few weeks and all my local dealers have many '07s in stock (the one nearest to me has over 50 in stock, 90% BTs), not to mention a load of used bikes. Maybe they will actually have to start dealing?????.

I'm an engineer, but not a mechanical engineer. But, based on my experince with the Suzuki C50T I imagine they "solved" the problem by water coolingthe 800cc. But as I said, it was a blast furnace when the fan came on at traffic lights during the hot humid summers here in Florida. No idea what the C90T would have been like.
If I had read all of these heat concerns and 5th gear noisesbefore I bought the '07 I probably won't have done it, I've never heard a bad word about the C50T in any forum. But, since I have bought it I was only asking if anyone had experienced an overheat so I'd know what to do when it occured.
This crap about tranny problems I always read about on the 07's is surely limited to only as few as is the heat problem we all hear about. Ive got a temp gauge on mine and Ive ridden on days when its been 95 degrees with 90% humidity and my temp never went above 225 degrees.Ive owned 2 07's a Street Bob and the FXSTC and there is no tranny problems.Yamaha still has air cooled motors and they suffer no Ill effects either. WTF does a Boulevard got to do w/ you buying your 07? Ive read plenty of bad reviews on the C-50. Most are limited to its power or lack there of , need for a 6th gear, uncomfortable for long rides etc etc. You cant please everyone all the time no matter what. That goes for Jap bikes - Victory- or a HD. Youll have some bad words to say when you go toi trade in that C50 and you get near nothing for it.

As a matter of fact I did get a pretty good trade-in deal. Maybe the dealers ARE having to deal a little!
The point I was trying to make is that if I HAD read about these seeming non-issues before I bought an '07 I would have thought twice about doing it. I'm glad I didn't know and I'm glad I did!

I too have an 07 (RK) and I wonder about the heat. But I see it it as more of a potential long term issue. I don't expect to see any bikes damaged in the first year. I wonder though how they will hold up over time if they constantly run hotter than ever. Especially if you do not add a fuel management system to enrichen them. With the crappy mileage they already get I'd just as soon not make it any worse. Then again, I plan to keep the bike for a while so I want it to last.
