Rode up to Laconia last weekend and had to put the Ipod in my pocket. Not a problem. What was a problem was the 6 feet of cable I needed to hook up so it would work.
So now I am looking for a handlebar mount that will allow me to mount the Ipod and not have to worry about a cable flapping around while doing 75.
you can try the Nolan NCOM 102 helmet, add the Bluetooth module and listen to your music wirelessly from your BT phone or mp3 player with BT. And you can make/receive calls if needed as well.
If you are going to put your iPod on the handlebars, make sure it is a flash drive iPod (shuffle or nano). iPods that use a hard drive (mini, photo, video) will not like the vibrations transferred through the handlebars.
Another place to look is the good people at 2 wheel tunes. They make both a chrome and wrinkle black mount that attaches to one of the screws on the switch housing. If you are looking for a wrinkle black one, PM me I'll sell you one at a discount (I discovered the vibration issue the hard way).

Any suggestions?
They make an attachment to plug into the ipod that broadcasts the signal on a fm frequency that you can tune your radio too. That is if your ride has a radio.

Mimo - should I take that response to mean I'm not the only one to kill an iPod with the vibrations from a Harley?
Hi there Fire,
Actually I adviced a friend of mine on not doing the same thing, the iPod (unless it is a flash one like the models you quoted) is nothing but a hard disk very sensitive to vibration... the "actuator" (reading needle) gets killed by those vibrations. My friend didn't believe me... His iPod is gone...
