Your best hope would be to hire a private detective and hope to get a few photos of the judge stuffing ones in the g-string of a stripper while snorting cocaine. Not withstanding that, you're screwed.

You were doing 90? cut across 2 lanes of trafficto make an exit?with 2 kids in the car? Sorry, I don't feel bad for yea.
A 5 year old and a 10 month old baby in tow? Doing 90? Crossing two lanes of highway traffic to make an exit? Mike (and I say this with all due respect), SLOW THE HELLL DOWN! (at least when you have little kiddos in tow) Is the fine excessive? That all depends on how one views it? In order for it to be truly effective and punitive, it should be such that it has an impact when administered. The fine obviously garnered your attention. Let us know how that court date turns out.

Sorry,

As a father, I drive slower on my bike realizing if I die, my girl's heart will be broken along with my head. When she's in the car, same thing.

A responsible person would have gotten off at the next exit if you were that close to missing the one you needed.

Pay your fine and quit yer bitchin

Default A little bit of an explanation

I think I misrepresented what happened here. Yes, I was clocked doing 90. Yes, my goal was to pass two lanes of trucks to make the exit. No, I did not scream across two lanes of traffic at 90 mph!

I guess it's a little hard to explain in a forum with little opportunity for hand gestures and body language.

I had no idea where the exit was that I was getting off at, just that it was coming up soon. I didn't want to miss it or hold up traffic in the far left lane by allowing the trucks to pass. My goal was to get in front of the trucks so that I wouldn't be cutting across three lanes of traffic.

The citation states that I was stopped at mile marker 70 on I-75. The 8th Street exit ended up being exit 64.

Did I make an error in judgement? That's for each person to decide on their own. In the eyes of the law I did. Do I think it's worth $700? Not really. And BTW, that fine is with or without kids in tow!

I know a lot of you guys are going to rake me over the coals. That's fine. I wouldn't have posted if I wasn't ready for that. I'm a big boy and can handle it.

I posted this to tell a story about what happened over the weekend and to warn some of you who would otherwise take the same risk I did.

i don't understand why people have to drive sobloody fast. I've beencruising along at the speed limitplenty of times, 65 or 70 and it's inevetable that someone will pass doing 90+ mph. Someone else sees them and goes by even faster. The problem is there aren't enough LEO's out there enforcing the laws and ensuring the public safety for the benefit of others. This isn't Germany and it's not the Autobahn. just my .02

I wonder how much of this excessive fine is because you're out of state and they figure they can screw you and you won't come back to contest it. $700 for 20 mph over the speed limit is insane.
My driver's license is a GA license and my residence is in GA (albeit the very far Southeastern corner). I just tell people I'm from Jacksonville, FL 'cause no one knows where St Marys, GA is

I know man that got caught doing 97 on I-16 to Savannah, he wasn't out of state either, Called to to get the amoint and was told it was 900 something dollars. He bout crapped in his pants and said he was going to call the governors office and see what he could do about such a stiff fine. Well he called and whoever he talked to there said , whoever had set the fine must have been in a good mood, it coulda been as much as 12 or 1500.He sent'em a check.
