Yeah, we had winds yesterday too. Welcome to Spring! Blowing 30-40 in Ranchita. Dead calm in Borrego. Dead calm on the coast too.

Now this sucks. It’s finally a beautiful day out with no wind and the temperatures are in the high 70s to low 80s, and here I am stuck working till 8-9 tonight. Someday, maybe, just maybe, I’ll get to ride on a day like this. Bah 😡

Work in the West Texas oilfields. 6 days on 2 days off, 12-14 hours a day. The money is great, but not much home time. That’s ok though, I’m getting stuff paid off before I retire.

In '08, after riding from Carlsbad up to Clovis, NM, during a stiff wind from the west, and those "tumbling, tumbleweeds", we finally got back to my truck/trailer, I told my wife to get in the truck to rest and warm up while I loaded and tied the bikes down.

(It had been a sunny, 72 degree day, but the wind was blowing so had that you actually had to place your hand across your nose in order to breathe and though we had on our leather gear, it was a rather cool ride).

Once loaded, we decide to return to a great little Mexican restaurant that we had eaten previously for lunch before heading for Amarillo.

As we walked in (with the wind still howling outside) we recognized the waitress who had waited on us a couple of weeks back and I said "the wind really blows in N.M"! To which one of the all-ready seated customers replied "yes it does, but it sucks in Texas"!
