I find it interesting that people care this much about where a flag is on their vest but on the 4th of July people are fine with flag napkins and paper plates being tossed in the trash
It should be on the right. That puts it in the left position for someone looking at you.
In Texas, we're the only State allowed to fly the Lone Star flag as high as the American flag, on a different pole. US on top for a single pole.
Many buildings get it wrong. The two flags are for people approaching, not those in the building. Present your colors as US on the left. IMHO
Awesome. I know nothing goes above it and most feel it should go above the heart. Just curious if you'll get crap for it or not. I personally believe the intentions behind placement is most important.
It is to be placed on the left side closest to the heart with nothing higher than the flag.
the flag should always be on the speakers right. Think of being on a stage talking to a crowd. The flag should be on the speakers right. The left side of the stage as you sit in the audience. Same on a vehicle. On the right side of the vehicle. The field (the stars) always point forward. If you wear a flag patch on your left sleeve, the field (stars) should be on the left side of the flag pointing forward. If you wear it on your right sleeve, the field should be on the right (again, point towards the front) The flag always points in a forward direction, never in retreat. On my American Legion Riders vest, we wear our flag on the upper left side of the vest. Nothing above. I believe you can pretty much wear it where you wish, so long as you present it in a place of honor.
So wear your flag in honor.
And thank you for your service!
Very well summarized.
I was schooled on flag etiquette by a self proclaimed Vexillologist.

that is very honorable! Thats why I said I think intention is most important. It sounds like that would be the highest place of honor for you.

Yes that is exactly correct. The only way anything gets higher than Jimmy, is the flag, and anything higher than the flag would have to be stitched on the back of my bald head. That ain't happening.
Like Spartanden, I'm a Legion Rider. We also wear the flag high on the left. Being patriotic and wanting to wear a flag patch is all that matters to me.
I care more about vest being laid on the ground and mishandled with a flag on them, than I do about patch placement, which is why I don't wear one.
Same logic leads me to not put flags on my clothes or other stuff, or use flag stamps on letters.

Yeah, some folks treat the colors like a trivial decoration, rather than a national symbol. Bothers me to see the flag used the way it is in Olympic audiences, or as a drape by athletes, etc. . .
