Well, my weather radar analysis skills were no match for nature today as I got caught in a torrential downpour with high winds and even small hail.First time for me getting into it that deep. Got home totally saturated........rain gear has now been put 'into' my bags instead ofin my closet.
Hail hurts on the forehead at25mph by the way, I had to drive a short bit to find a safe parking lot to pull over into but unfortunately noarea for me to get out of the weather, just off the road and out of traffic.
Been caught in a few like that minus the hail. The last couple the wife had her rain gear that I bought her last year. But I didn't bother getting any. Just purchased some HD rain gear this week with $100 gift card I got from the local dealer for a sales referral. Can't stand the feeling of wet jeans.
Several years ago we got caught in a down pour in St Louis, MO, stopped at a red light and put my feet down in about 4 inches of water we had alot of problems getting a room as the Cardinals were suppose to play the Cubs that night and all room were full. Another time we got caught in a hail storm in the Smokies, hail hurts like he!!.
Been there before , coming back from Laughlin one year . Nowhere to pull over and was just hoping nobody would run into me . Doing 25 with the flashers on ..........But wouldn`t have missed it for the world . Ride safe out there !
That's how I got the screen name Raindropfx. When I first got my WG it rained on me every other time I was out. Everyone started busting my a$$, and started calling my bike Raindrop. Sounded a little stupid at first, but after a while it stuck. I guess it could have been worse.
I would live in Colorado if I could, some of the best fly-fishing and scenery in the country, been there a handfull of times but never with a bike. Usually spend my time in/around Steamboat Springs.
T storms are my worst fear. Back in 86 my best friend mike was returning from sturgis when his group got caught out in the open by a sudden storm. Mike was on point and cranked it on trying to outrun it. He got hit by a direct lightning strike. I wasnt on that trip because my wife had given birth to my oldest son a month prior, his name is mike......I miss ya bro , little mike is now a man and doing well.
