Thnx. I will try to dig up some photos and videos of her (and other racers).
I enjoy it, not only because my daughter competes, but because riding bicycles is probably the catalyst that resulted in all of us HERE having a love for motorcycles.
Great video, and that is awesome that your daughter is doing so well at such a tough competitive sport. My guess is she'll always remember you being there for her, good job dad!!!That rain part kind of sucks though.
We had three big events scheduled for our local track this weekend. The "Race for Life" which is a fund raising event that also awards double pts, a Redline Cup Qualifier, which you have to make the main in to get invited to the Redline Finals, and a State Championship Qualifying race. This big point weekends are important, as not only does performing well qualify you for the next step in the Championship series, but they also pay out double or triple district points.
We had riders at our track from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Colorado. We did get a couple of qualifying round wins, but no main event wins. Why? Kiddo, who is about 55 lbs dripping wet is 10......she had to race against the 11 yr old boys. The boy that won that particular class did not lose all weekend long, but guess who was all over his back tire??
She is ready for bed now. Due to rain, all three of the events had to be ran today. She ran a total of 8 qualifying rounds and three main events on two different bicycles.
Some of you may have noticed in other posts of mine, about my daughter and her bmx racing. She is currently sitting #4 in the Nation in her age group, #1 amongst ALL girls in our district, yada yada yada.
Needless to say, getting her to the level she competes at takes money, and lots of it. She is always traveling, and has attending a 3 month sports performance program, which I had to pay for all of it. She has a Factory sponsorship, but for now, that sponsorship is extended to discounts on parts/equipment only. The team does not have the money to pay entry fees, travel expenses, etc.
To pay for all that stuff, I work two part time jobs, one of which is Friday and Saturday nites. Which means, I never get to go see her race.
Well, at her request (she never asks, as she is smart enuff to know where the money comes from), I took tonite off, and rode to Blue Springs Mo, to watch her races. In her class (girls her age) she got 2nd. In the mixed open event (9-10 yr old girls and BOYS), she took 3rd. Not too shabby. After races we went out to eat, and had a good time.
Now......only a 15% chance of rain, and not a freakin cloud in the sky when I left, so didn't bring the full face helmet. Just my shorty. Lucky me, I had my rainsuit in the bottom of the saddlebag. I got about 1/2 mile from the restaurant when the gates of hell opened up. Rained all the friggin way home. 90 miles took me just a bit over 2 hrs, after having to stop to clean the glasses a few times.
Still glad I took the nite off tho!!!
Video her in action, and put it on you tube so we can see her racing !......Good luck to her in future races !
Awesome pictures! You have every right to brag about your kids, we always did and still do. And yes wife I again got caught out in the rain again. But you know what it is better than not riding.
I know you have to work to keep thing rolling but dont work to hard and miss out on what your working so hard for. I have a 10 year old as well like you I work all the time to keep up on soccer Yes I am a soccer dad. But you need to take the time to watch the play or they grow up and you miss it all. Good for you taking the nite off.[sm=smiley20.gif]
