Whatta nite...
For her third year running, she brought home the #1 Plate. What made it more special, was the fact that there weren't enough girls at the event, to make a "Girls" class in her age group. She got bumped up, and had to race the 11 yr old Intermediate Boys class. She made the main event, and took a 2nd.

In two weeks, the Central Division Redline Finals are coming up. The Redline Series (Goldcup series for you old time BMXers), is an invitation only event. Each state has One Qualifier. You have to make the main in your qualifying event to get an invite to the finals. Then, at the Finals, they award First Place. Finish 2nd, and you get some points, and a trophy, but that is it. There is only ONE Redline Champ (per age group/division), and that is the WINNER. The winner gets a Champions jacket, a special number plate, some magazine coverage, etc.
She won it last year when the Finals were in Oklahoma. Hopefully, on her Home track, she can defend her title THIS year!!

Just noticed something.......What is she doin covering that brake? You don't brake in racing!!!!
It started on Friday nite, with a triple points race, which drew about 500 racers, and continued thru Saturday and Sunday, with the running of the US Open, and the Central Division Redline Cup Finals.
First off, the weather was GREAT. Had some heavy rain Friday after racing, but the track staff was able to get the damage repair before the 1st race ran on Saturday. Krista did NOT have a class of her own. There were only two 10 yr old girls there (she being one of them), and it takes THREE to run a race. As the younger girls had enough to make their own class, that means the two 10 yr olds got moved UP to the 11 yr old girl class.
Friday and Saturday, Krista had her work cut out for her, but she won both of those events. Of course, the main focus for the weekend, and the one we would gladly trade wins for, is the Redline Final.
Well, come today, an additional 11 yr old girl showed up for the race. Jessica Sherbno is an 11 yr old girl out the St. Louis area, and she is currently in 4th place Nationally in her age group. Needless to say, we figured Krista did not stand a snowball's chance in hell of beating her.
We were right. Krista did NOT win, and as such did not retain her Redline Champ title. But, she finished just a bike length or two behind Jessica. Krista was very happy with her performance, and we were able to gauge just how much faster she has gotten over the last year.
No racing pics...I was running around with a digital video cam hanging around my neck, and I didn't want to add a still camera to that, and make myself look like a total dork. I will get the video of her main event downloaded tomorrow, and post it here. I did grab a couple of shots of the ABA's rig tho.

Like I previously stated, she ended up taking a 2nd place, but considering the speed and experience of the girl that won, we are happy with her performance.
Since just a few months after she started racing, she has gone by the nickname "Big Air", as she loved jumping. Well, this weekend, due to an equipment malfunction (belt came undone), she picked up a new nickname......"Sweet Cheeks". Use your imagination, and you can figure out what happened.
BTW....during the "malfunction"...she didnt stop racing.....she raced to the line, took the win, and THEN fixed the problem!!
