Default Pricing help

I upgraded a brand new 107 CU Milwaukee 8 to a 114CU with a SE stage IV kit when I bought my bike.

Now I have lots of valuable (?) 107 parts from the take off that need to find a home rather than a closet.

The 107 uses a 9 plate clutch pack

How do I price these things (all the parts or whole kit) for a fair sale?
appreciate the help.

I would have posted this in the for sale section but until I know prices nothing is for sale.

Another "mostly curious" comment, here.

What have you got there? Some cylinders, heads, pistons, clutch stuff?

What is the market for brand new, stock, M8 takeoff parts? Are there any M8's that are even out of warranty at this point?

Not trying to throw cold water on this, but I can't visualize why anyone would need this stuff. Unless someone gets the idea of building some sort of FrankenHarley with an M8 top end on a Shovel bottom end or something like that.

Think of it this way - My day 1 stock take offs (that I will never need), I have priced here for 1.00 + shipping.

cylinders yes,
heads - yes,
pistons - yes,
clutch stuff - yes

And stuff I don't know what it is called.

Basically anything that gets pulled when they do the screaming eagle stage IV upgrade is available

the clutch pack is 9 plates without the clutch springs
I have a clutch cable and a brake cable as well.
My Mechanic says the take offs are valuable "IF" I find someone who needs them for whatever reason it can be a win win.

so the true value comes in a few years when people start tearing down their Milwaukee 8's for whatever.

It's a good question...Some "Take-offs" are virtually worthless and some can be actually worth something. You have to know your market per application

I get that. I just don't get who that would be.

I think your mechanic was just trying to make you feel better about your bill.

Personally, I think I'd carefully wrap everything up, label the boxes, include a note explaining what it all is, and hope that you end up doing a favor for some guy in 50 years when these parts are hard to find.

To answer your question, OP, the general rule of thumb for a starting asking price is 50% of retail for a new part. You can dicker down from there. So just go to one of the on-line parts sites, like Ronnie's HD or Outpost Alaska, find out what a new part will cost, use half of that as a starting point, and go from there. I doubt very much that you'll want to go up from there...and due to the nature of the take-offs, you might be sitting on them for a good while, as pointed out above.

Does your new 114 use a lot of engine oil?
