Bahahaha I actully thought about that. What a horrible trick to play on someone. No this box was stored while I was waiting on the crank shaft. It definately came out of there somewhere. I even checked my torque wrenches and pullers to see if it belonged to something like that. Nothing. As maticulous as I have been and spent extra money on the best parts I'm sure it's going to cause a catastrophic failure. Can't believe this is happening.

I've never torn down an engine, so I'm just arm-chairing here. I would go through the factory service manual for each disassembly step, while consulting the diagrams (eg Ronnie's Parts Finder). It's a pretty big part, it should be on the diagrams.

The push rod looks to be 3 pieces...#5, 6, and something between them not numbered.

The only thing in the fiche that looks like that is the pushrod. Rounded ends, black oxide finish, etc. But the pushrods are twice that length....

Is the primary the only thing you took apart? Work on anything else in the same space recently? That part might not even be from the bike.....

I hope this doesn't become one of those mysteries that's never solved. Having taken TC A engines apart, split the cases and complete disassembly of the primary drives on numerous TC models, I can say I've never seen a part like that. My transmission experience isn't as extensive so there's a remote possibility it's from there but based on the gear sets I've pulled out, again, I've never seen that part.

Everything on the bike has been apart except the transmission. I have kind of given up on it for right now. Stared at the bike for hours and mentally went through every working part. Even all my tools. Can't figure it out. It is going to be the mystery part I guess. It doesn't show any kind of rotation or other wear at all. It is shaped like a push rod of some kind. The ends are exactly like the clutch pushrod.

Did you start up the bike yet? Be sure to have a camera rolling, we need to see this.
Just kidding...

Maybe the guy who opened the engine before you lost it in there?

But seriously, we'd like to hear what happens when you run it.
