Well after riding all the way home from DC with rain my bike was filthy.
Slept in little, the wife cooked a great breakfast and then I got started washing, cleaning and detailing. DONE five hours later!
I gave it a good soap and water wash twice. Then pulled the hard bags and washed the pipes good, the swing arm and rear wheel. Then I broke out the blower and dried her off and moved it back in the shop.
Next I pulled the seat, side panels and the fuel tank.
The wife came out to help at this point. Using Cycle Care Formula 33 we both started spraying and wiping everything down. I focused on the engine, under the engine, exhaust, side panels inside and out and the areas under the side panels and under the seat.
Once done with that I put her up on the J&S jack and completely detailed the front and rear wheels.
My wife started on the seat and back rest on the tour back. She treated them very well with Cycle Care Formula 4 for leather and vinyl.
Next I polished the hard bags and tank while off so I could easily get all around them, top and bottom using Cycle Care Formula 3. By the way this stuff is FANTASTIC on windshields! Dried bugs two days old wipe off like nothing with a spray of formula 33 and one swipe of a microfiber towel.
I put it all back together and she looks sharp! Dont want to get her dirty now. Ruined a couple of rags that went in the trash cleaning under the bike. Amazing what build up you can get in just nine months and 6k miles.
Then I checked the oil level, transmission fluid level and of course both were cold but looked great and right where they should be level wise.
Then I put some wax on the fairing, front fender, tank and tops of the hard bags. Polished it all off, wiped up the excess conditioner off the seat and covered her up with the CVO full cover.
Now the wife tells me to clean up and take her to dinner!
Yeah I like Cycle Care products. Been using them for 8 years now.
I have actually detailed a couple of bikes for cash. A local car and RV guy used to trade for anything. He called me one day and had a beautiful 2003 Ultra 100th Anniversary with a lot of chrome. I went and picked her up and it was really in good condition. I just washed it, cleaned and polished everything and rode it back to him for $100.00. Then he called and asked me to come and look at an Iron Horse he traded for. Yeah it was Purple with gold flames. Lots of aluminum that had never been polished. I told him this would be an all day job. It was, took me at least 7 hours and I went through a lot of Busch aluminum polish. Crazy thing is when I got this one cleaned up it looked brand new! My wife wanted to keep it! I put it on the trailer and took it back. He was very impressed, the wheels looked like chrome. He asked what he owed me and I said $250.00. He about had a heart attack and we settled at $200.00.
