i was out riding yesterday and noticed that my exhaust noise on my '07 XL1200C was loud i have stock pipes . after inspection i found that one of nuts on the rear pipe had fallen off and the other nut was about fall off. the dealer was on my way home and i stopped to see if i could get it fixed. i pulled up to the shop and there was a mechanic there and he said that he could fix it but i had to go buy the nut. he said that if he were to write a work order that he would have to charge me $70 labor. i told him that the bike was only 2 months old and was still under warranty. he said that the warranty did not cover missing parts or loss nuts. well i wasn't going to argue about a $1 nut so i went to the parts counter got the nut he put it on and i rode the bike 15 miles home to find the nut missing again...
the dealer is closed today but when i talk to them is this a warranty repair or not
If your bike isunder warrenty then they should have handled it.
I took my bike in for a $2.00 part replacement. Not because I couldn't do it but because it is under warrenty (and it gives me an excuss to look around the dealer )
I would have told him off! Then gone to the service manager then gone to the owner! (Ok I'm just that way....0.10 part or not)

[sm=exactly.gif] What Bluerose said. Do not let the Stealers get away with this kind of bullshite, a warranty should cover everything from the poor assembly at the factory to poor dealer setup which you probably paid through your *** for. I don't care how much a part cost or anything else they WILL FIX IT under warranty.
I had this exact same thing happen to my '07 XL1200C.... I noticed after my 1k service, my exhaust sound was louder and seemed to get louder over time, then it started sounding real dirty.... after a few days of realizing it wasn't my hearing going from my dad's drag pipes on his fatboy, I took it to the dealer to have it fixed. they fixed it in about 10-15minutes and I left. no charge. They said the bolt on one exhaust pipe came completely off and the other was extremely loose and about to come off.
my bike was only about 3weeks - 1month old when it got to revisit the dealer to have it fixed.
wonder how many other people had the bolt on the exhaust clamps come loose.
