Default Front Brake Light Switch

Read the service manual after the fact and it is correct. You must put 4 mm shim in the brake handle of damage to switch may occur. Well it occured and now I need a new switch. Are they available from dealer as aspice in unit because it's hard wired into the harness now ? It's for an 07 fxstc.

I think drag specialties and custom chrome make just the brake switch $20 - 30 my guess.

Hopefully you don't have internal wiring otherwise you're in for some extra work installing it.

Yup , have and area of about 1 1/2 inch for a splice. No problem.

After having done it "correctly" several times I forgot once and heard a telltale "snap" the first time I pulled the brake lever. I was lucky enough to see the tip of the switch plunger as it hit the floor and Superglued it back in place.

After looking at the setup it appears that a small block glued to the lever would still actuate the broken switch plunger; less hassle than splicing the wires in a confined space.

I've done this several times with no spacer and have never broken a switch. Just been careful. Guess I've been lucky!
