Yeah bought mine that way you still have to pay a doc fee almost $400 and it’s $3 fee every time you make a payment

Not true at all!

HD ( and many other company's) do charge a "convenience fee" if you use their website to pay though.
But you are under no obligation to pay that way.

Set up payments through your own bank and you will avoid any and all fees.
Or just mail a payment back in the little envelope they send you every month.

You make it sound like they try and gouge you. The fees are nothing unique to HDFS. All lenders charge a document fee. The $3 payment fee is only in certain circumstances. I don't recall the exact circumstance but it is something like an online payment that is not an auto-payment. Setting up auto pay or paying by mail does not involve any fees.

I am in the process of selling my bike through the Rider to Rider program with HD. What I've learned so far, is the buyer pays a $500 finance fee and the seller pays a $160 inspection fee. The dealer buys the bike and puts it into their inventory, then sells is to the buyer. I was surprised by the fees involved, especially the inspection fee.

Sounds like a way the dealer makes extra for doing minimal work

Well, except for the part where they facilitate the sale and financing of the motorcycle. . . that's all.
