Call your local Harley dealer and ask for the parts department. After they answer and ask how they can help you, read your sentence above that I quoted to them over the phone.
It might help to have your VIN handy as well.

Unfortunately the guy I purchased the bike from did not have a spare key. The original was all I had.

Dealer may be able to get it with vin but he is going to want bike and proof it's yours. That is what my Honda dealer needed.
