Besides fatigue, you will probably find there really isn't anything unique about longer rides outside of what you already are used to. The ride just goes on longer. I always try to stay focused on longer hauls as like in a car, you can get into a funk after a while and kind of zone out and not be alert as the pavement goes by over the hours. So stopping a lot even when you aren't tired is important, just to refocus. I am never really in a rush so I just take my time and enjoy the trip as best I can. Why I never cared much for group riding. I like to be on my own schedule and not someone elses. So instead of thinking of it like, 'this trip is going to take 4 hour's, just think of it as, 'we will leave at such and such a time and get there when we get there. ' You dont put any pressure on yourself that way.

Depending on where you are in VT, I might be passing you headed the other way tomorrow. Headed out of Lebanon ME to Wilmington VT by way of 202/9 across NH through Concord and Keene.

I have only spent a couple hours in OOB - beachy boardwalk places aren't really my thing, but I know lots of people who love it there.

Good choice dodging the highways - 95N coming through Portsmouth NH and over the border was worse than usual for a Friday afternoon today - Hope most of that crowd stays away from where you're going! I agree with the other posters who suggested more northerly routes across NH if you want to take the time. Route 25 east from 16 towards Portland is a lightly traveled 2 lane in really good shape, as an example.

1stly, NICE! GLAD to hear it.......

There are many things to say but I share some of the most important things.......

Stay hydrated
Always play the WHAT IF game
Ride like you are invisible
Be super careful changing lanes. As you switch from 1 lane to another and there are cars in front of you, you can't always see what is BETWEEN the cars (like on the dotted line like debris) until you get there. <--- Think abt that and avoid that issue.
Stay alert and keep looking around. Front, side, rear, etc...
You should not have an issue with this but fuel management
If u get lower back pains or should pains when you went for your other long ride, let me know. I will share with you how to stop that from happening.

You know my friend, if u get to like longer rides, you may want to look into IBA (Iron Butt Association) https://www.ironbutt.org/ rides.

HAVE FUN and let us know how it goes!

Skratch made a very good point......a long haul is really just a series of short rides. As mentioned above stop when you tire. When making a fuel stop take a few extra minutes to use the bathroom and hydrate. Stretch the legs and back and relax the mind. You would be surprised at the miles you can ride in a day doing this. My wife and I will ride 800 miles in a day and not be pushing it doing this exact thing.

4 hours of riding should be no problem . stop once an hour to top up the gas tank and drain and refill your own fluids . if you have a spot for it a bottle of water on the bike is a good idea .

Thanks to all! Made it safe and sound. Made a few stops along the way. Noticed some fatigue setting in on the last leg when in stop and go traffic and stops were less smooth towards the end but otherwise good. I assume with more experience I will build up a bit more stamina. The 90+ degree weather didn't help much😀 I know that's the norm for some of you but in the Northeast, it's a heat wave. Glad to be ocean side for the next week. thanks again for your support!
