Got my grand daughter coming back in a week or so and she has alwys been with me being the adventureous type weather it be a quad or the truck or the firebird. She was here the day the Lowrider showed up in the driveway but she was distracted by her mom and dad coming to get her. At that time it was "let's go Papa for a ride" . Pretty easy at that time to say no cuz she would be done with me and move on. But now it's gonna be a different story she's 4 months older and now has her own quad. She has always been a good passenger. My biggest concern is I ride a pretty much stock Lowrider and to have her sitting behind me makes me uncomfortable for the fact that I will be concentrating more on riding safely thus taking away from my focus on her safety. I do know that my riding time will be drastically cut during her time here if she can't get her saddle time in. Maybe I'm asking folks here how they deal with this situation. Thanksin advance for your input.
If your uncomfortable, I wouldn't take her with you. You didn't mention her age or size. I wouldn't ride my kids on my bike until they were 10. Even then, I wanted to make sure they could reach the pegs (preferably footboards). Sounds like you'll be riding at night after she goes to bed!
First, add sissy bar & back rest for her if you already haven't done that. It can bedetachable. But something for her to have some back support.
As far as riding with her, I give my grandkids rides around the neighborhood allthe time. Some of the older ones(10 yrs+), I've taken on trips of about 35 miles. I'm a cautious rider alone(because people don't pay attention) and use same skills with them. I take mostly low traffic roads with them on back and make sure that my speed is okay for them. I explained to them when I'm going to turn or in curves, all they have to do is look over my shoulder and never had a problem.
Now I do ride an Electra Glide Classic so it is a little easier to ride them because they are sitting in a chair(almost) and don't really have to hold on to me.
Enjoy the ride. Mine love it andask for rides every time they come over.
Good advice, you dont feel good about just park it and dont ride in front of her. Tell her the bike is sick.... if you do decide to ride her just go slow and be extra extra cautious. You KNOW how precious she is.

How old is she???? What I do is put them in front of me,,,and have them hold on to my arms....The ride is usually up and down the road,,,,close to home,,,never in traffic......untill they can look over my shoulder,,,its on the tank for a putt putt,,,,,,,,
The mention of her having her own quad made me wince. A couple of years back, thefive year old daughter of one of the guys I worked with, died, when the quad she & her mother were riding flipped over backwards& crushed her.
Less than a year later I had two Lifeflite Helicopters in my back yard when the little girl next door (six years old) ran her quad into a tree with her 13 year old cousin on the back. She died of massive head injuries. The cousin was treated and released..
Ya gotta make sure the quad is not to big for the kid and you absolutely need to make sure they are wearing the necessary safety gear. It only takes one stupid mistake!!! Once they're gone, you can't get em back...
On a seperate note, my 8 year old grandaughter just spent a week with me. She has a helmet & Jacketthat fits her and she rides on the back of my EGlide Classic. Since her feet don't reach the footboards I put the chrome hand guard under the seat so she has something to hang onto.
You'd look a long time to find a more **** parent than me ... And I took my daughter to kindergarten (years ago) on my Harley. She was a natural, and I never thought twice about it. She put her right foot on the air cleaner, and I built a little metal platform for her left foot. Easily one of the best memories I have making that trip to school on nice sunny days.
