My bike is making a ticking sound when I roll it back and forth.

I've got a slight downhill going to my house. Occasionally I will cut the engine and coast about 100yds going between 10-20mph, just to listen for squeaking bearings, non engine noises, whatever. Pop start it and ride the rest of the way home.

You now have a reason to buy a service manual and tools. Enjoy.

Did you check to see if you have a rock or something stuck in your tire treads?

I have seen the plastic vent hose from the fuel tank end up contacting the belt cause the noise you are describing. Check the area where your belt enters behind the primary housing.

You are obviously on the wrong motorcycle, you should be on a BMW GS Adventure.

As my doctor told me when I reported that my arm hurt when bent a certain way: "Stop doing that." It is better to not roll your bike back and forth. Just roll it forth, with the engine running, at highway speed. That noise won't bother you again.

look for a rock in the tread or in the belt somewhere. My Heritage made a ticking sound and it turned out to be the main drive gear bearing in the transmission. Would only make the noise when there was tension on the belt. Loosen belt and roll the wheel no noise. Tighten the belt to specs. and it would start ticking again. I replaced the main drive gear bearing and all has been well for many miles. Look for the easy stuff first !
