Hello, I have a 09 Low Rider with forward controls and i always have a problem with thighs being uncomfortable on trips. I kind of feel like if i had a foot board similar to a softail it may eliminate that. I did ride my brothers softail and it was much more comfortable. I also installed a mustache bar and that still didn't help. Any suggestions?
I absolutely feel that pain!
Stirrups,, they're an add on to the foot pegs,, and when adjusted properly they support your heel taking the weight of the leg off your muscles.
I think they look better on the dynas or other models that don't typically have floor boards.
I started with a "switchblade" type that I found from a member here in the classifieds,, but they where a little wimpy to be functional,, then later found a larger perminent set on ebay for a reasonable price.
This link is just for example,, you can shop around for better deals; https://www.google.com/search?q=kury...firefox-b-1-ab
First off, OP...good on ya for using the correct terminology...'foot boards'...that's what they are, not the more common 'floor boards'! Harleys don't have floors!
Secondly, check out Kuryakyn 'Cruise Pegs'. They are essentially standard foot pegs that are mounted on brackets that bolt to the footboards, NOT the engine guard. I've had them on two bikes, and would rest my heels on the footboard, toes on the pegs, very comfortable!
The factory Switchback footboard kit will bolt right on. Plenty of room to stretch out, move around & get comfortable & the best thing I've ever done to my bike.
