LED Headlight Issue
I have a 2017 Fatboy S. I upgraded the lighting system to LED so that I can see & be seen better by other drivers & everything is running fine except for one small issue.
When driving at night if I hit my hi beam, after a couple of cycles, the engine warning light comes on. It usually shuts off on its own, but sometimes will stay on.
When HD checked the codes, it was cause the headlight in hi beam was placing too much load on the system I think. (Can't remember exactly what the guys said)
In any case, I tried putting different load resisters on it, even rebuilt one from the ground up & it still happens. I'm running a Custom Dynamics Smart Triple Play Converter with Custom Dynamics Complete LED Turn Signal Conversion Kit Bullet Turn Signals - 1157 Front and 1156 Rear, a Kuryakyn Low Profile LED Taillight Conversion & a TURBOSII Daymarker 7" LED Headlight. (I bought this one because the low beam stays on when the hi-beam is engaged, but I think that might have something to do with the load issue.)
So, does anyone know a workaround for this? Anyone else experienced it? Can I get a heavy Duty battery that will fix it? Change the load resistor values? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks - J.
But anyways LEDs draw much lower power than halogen so I wouldn't think it would be overloading the system. Mine simply thought I had a light burned out because it was using less power than what the computer thought it should be.
Thanks Labrador, Ill see if I can get in touch with them! Maybe just solder another resistor in parallel with the load box?
