Default Loose dogs

Almost bought it yesterday when a loose German Shepherd came running at me from the right.
I swerved into the left lane. No oncoming traffic.
it could have killed me.
What is the hive solution?
People around here let dogs run.

Similar situation years go including dog hiding between cars. Its a normal reaction to swerve but you have to learn downshift and rev it to outrun the dog. If you see the dog ahead of you then slow down in low gear and when you get close gun it.
If that is not possible then swerve into the dog and give it a taste of your pipes. Yes its scary but I never saw that dog again.

I live in a small town and pit bulls are still all the rage here. One guy walks his pit bull without a collar or leash on the local walking path. He's from here so he knows almost everyone has a pistol on them. I can only assume he knows what would happen if the dog chased or showed aggression toward anyone. The second to the last thing I want to do is kill someone's beloved pet, the last I thing I want to do is be prey for man or beast.

I have never regretted my conscious decision to run over animals if it's that or cause an accident with another vehicle. Obviously, that's easier said about driving a car or truck. But, I agree with the above, try and get away or avoid the animals, or hit the sumbitch. A big dog could take you down, but it would be better than a head on collision, IMO.
