Halo you need to get your eyes checked out if you are getting flashes of light in your eyes. Could be the start of a retinal detachment.

Speaking from experience here, run do not walk to a good Ophthalmologist to get checked out. You might be about to suffer a retinal detachment. It is not fun.

This thread has me laughing out loud!

If you have good floating rotors, they shouldn't move much, at least not on the bike. I'm not sure what to tell you about how to tell when they're "working".

I had just changed the front tire and brake pads. Tested the bike and found I that I had somehow also installed a brake chattering issue. Checked the pad install, sanded the back of the pad. (thought I had somehow left some kind of debris during the install) tested again... No change, still had chatter. Checked the runout of the discs. .005in. within specs. Why was the runout only in a very short area of the disc? 3-4 inches. I then sprayed the disc retaining washers with brake cleaner and rapped the discs with a plastic shot filled hammer until I could hear the discs rattle. That centered the discs and allowed them to follow the pads. Chatter is now subtantialy reduced. I'm hoping the pads will now reseat and the chatter will go away completely. Worked for me.

I have a floater in my left eye that is quite bothersome. Like a big black spot. Right eye has a floater too but it’s like a piece of black hair. 1.5 years from 50 so it’s to be expected.

Fill the sink with water and toss them in. If they sink, you need to go exchange them. If that's the case, DO NOT put them back on the bike. They are broken.
