Boom Box 6.5 Question/Issues
I'm having an issue with the radio on my 2017 SGS, and I'm posting on here to see if by chance, anyone on has had this happened to them.
The problem doesn't happened all of the time, just sometimes.
Sometimes when I start the bike at home and I have the radio on, all of the sudden, the radio switches on its own from playing any radio station to making a phone call through my cell phone and when I hit the cancel button to end the call, it won't do it, and then I get a prompt window asking me if I want to switch the call to my actual phone, and if I hit "YES" the call won't even switch to my phone, but the call ends, however, if I hit "NO" the radio remains active on the call that is trying to make and even when I turn the bike off by switching the ignition *** to the "OFF" position, the radio stays on.
I called my dealer about this issue and the service guy told me that it sound it like there might be a glitch on the radio software that the solution would probably be on downloading the latest software update from Harley Davidson's website which I did yesterday, but didn't solve the issue.
Again, this problem doesn't happen every time I turn the bike on, it happens sometimes and what is a bit odd or weird about it, is that it only has happened when I'm home, because every time that I am out ridding the bike, it has never happened while I'm on the road, only at home, I don't know if this is just coincidence or not.
Before anyone tells me, I know that the next course of action should be taking it to the dealer, but I just want to see if anyone have ever had that happened to them, and if so, what was the solution??
Thanks in advance for any advices and comments on this issue.
If that doesnt work, try a reset.
1. Turn IGN OFF. Wait 15 seconds.
2. Press and hold power/mute button. Turn IGN to ACC.
3. Continue to press power button for 2 seconds after the WARNING screen is displayed.
4. Release power/mute button and accept warning.
The service menu may display Diag Service not Availiable when a menu option is initially selected. This message will clear once the system has finished performing the power-on process. Options are: DTCs, Audio, Display, Key input, Component menus, Version info, Reset, Touchscreen.
Reset: Pre-calibration reset: Restores fatory default settings. This is recommended when there are radio symptoms and no DTCs*
Additionally, if the bike is paired to your phone and you initiate or receive a call for up to a minute after shutting off the bike, the radio connects the call on the bike and asks if you want to transfer to the handset.
Not to sound like a dealer, but they all do that ...
Prior to my current I-Phone 10, I had a Note-4 paired to the Boom Box and I never had this issue, however I have had my I-Phone 10 for like 4 months now and it was paired to the radio and it never gave me this problem until about a couple of weeks ago, which leads me to think that it may just have been an issue that either the radio or my I-Phone have developed just now, but like I mentioned on my original post, is that for some weird reason the problem only happens while I'm home and not while I'm out on the road riding my bike or even when I turn on the bike any other place, except at home, that what's weird about it.
I went to the dealer this afternoon and told the service guy, which happens to be a very knowledgeable and nice guy, and he actually checked the radio in front of me and made sure I had the latest update, which I did, and he actually called the MoCo on speaker phone and told them about the problem, and they said that they never heard about this issue before, but did give me a service call number for my reference. The service guy did re-set the radio and un-paired my I-Phone from the radio and then re-paired them again to see what happens.
Then again, just because the MoCo haven't heard of this issue before today's call to them by the dealer, it is also possible that this may possibly be a brand new issue about the Boom Box radio, just like the many new issues that they developed in the past with these radios, just saying....
