Default Boom Box 6.5 Question/Issues

Hey Guys,

I'm having an issue with the radio on my 2017 SGS, and I'm posting on here to see if by chance, anyone on has had this happened to them.

The problem doesn't happened all of the time, just sometimes.

Sometimes when I start the bike at home and I have the radio on, all of the sudden, the radio switches on its own from playing any radio station to making a phone call through my cell phone and when I hit the cancel button to end the call, it won't do it, and then I get a prompt window asking me if I want to switch the call to my actual phone, and if I hit "YES" the call won't even switch to my phone, but the call ends, however, if I hit "NO" the radio remains active on the call that is trying to make and even when I turn the bike off by switching the ignition *** to the "OFF" position, the radio stays on.

I called my dealer about this issue and the service guy told me that it sound it like there might be a glitch on the radio software that the solution would probably be on downloading the latest software update from Harley Davidson's website which I did yesterday, but didn't solve the issue.

Again, this problem doesn't happen every time I turn the bike on, it happens sometimes and what is a bit odd or weird about it, is that it only has happened when I'm home, because every time that I am out ridding the bike, it has never happened while I'm on the road, only at home, I don't know if this is just coincidence or not.

Before anyone tells me, I know that the next course of action should be taking it to the dealer, but I just want to see if anyone have ever had that happened to them, and if so, what was the solution??

Thanks in advance for any advices and comments on this issue.

Try turning off Bluetooth on your phone and see if it still happens. First I have heard of this, but electronics do weird stuff sometimes.

Have not had the problem and BT sounds illogical. Are you sure the software update was successful? Just did mine. Think it was 1.22.1?

Do you have another vehicle to run your phone through bluetooth on? To try and rule out if its actually the boom box or your mobil device. My andriod phone does about the same thing in my truck. I rareley hook my phone up to my bike. Also my phone jacks up sometimes and starts calling people when the side buttons are depressed in a irregular manner. Maybe the clamp is mashing your buttons on the side of the phone causing it to act up while your riding.

Just be glad the dealer didnt say they all do it. Seems to be the trend these days if you take ur bike to the dealer. Ha

Are you using a headset? If you are, maybe try it with the headset disconnected.

This is the direction I was going in when I said disable the Bluetooth on your phone. Was just wondering if the radio would try to make a call (although impossible) without the phone paired to it.

Sounds like it's time for a radio reset & then BT re-pairing.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Prior to my current I-Phone 10, I had a Note-4 paired to the Boom Box and I never had this issue, however I have had my I-Phone 10 for like 4 months now and it was paired to the radio and it never gave me this problem until about a couple of weeks ago, which leads me to think that it may just have been an issue that either the radio or my I-Phone have developed just now, but like I mentioned on my original post, is that for some weird reason the problem only happens while I'm home and not while I'm out on the road riding my bike or even when I turn on the bike any other place except at home, that what's weird about it.

I went to the dealer this afternoon and told the service guy, which happens to be a very knowledgeable and nice guy, and he actually checked the radio in front of me and made sure I had the latest update, which I did, and he actually called the MoCo on speaker phone and told them about the problem, and they said that they never heard about this issue before, but did give me a service call number for my reference. The service guy did re-set the radio and un-paired my I-Phone from the radio and then re-paired them again to see what happens.

Then again, just because the MoCo haven't heard of this issue before today's call to them by the dealer, it is also possible that this may possibly be a brand new issue about the Boom Box radio, just like the many new issues that they developed in the past with these radios, just saying....

Default "The Fix" Video.

Hey Guys, quick question.

By any chance, have any of you guys that have already installed $tonecold's "The Fix Kit" on your bikes, have actually made a tutorial video about it that you won't mind posting to help other fellow riders with the installation process?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

So only happens at home? When you're home, is it paired to another bluetooth device in range? I'm wondering if it's getting confused switching over from one device to another.
