Crabchuck, the only thing I have paired to the Boom Box is my I-phone 10, however I do have a wireless Bose Speaker ducking unit that I have paired to my I-phone, but doubt that is causing the issue.
Did your Iphone have an update about the time the problem started to occur? major problem with Iphones and the bluetooth connections to device occur after updates. I'd delete the pairing altogether from your bike and your phone. As if they never knew each other. Then start over with fresh pairing. If you had an update and this occurred usually you can find a fix to this issue from apple downloads. They usually issue minor patches for problmes like this but don't announce them and don't put them out until they include them later in a major uppdate.
Just my experience with Iphones and pairing.
No Oldskewd, no updates on the I-phone, actually I haven't been prompted by apple to do one either as they usually do nor have I done one since I got the phone from Apple about 4 months ago.
As I stated on a previous post, the service guy from the dealer unpaired the from from the Boom Box and deleted the I-phone from the radio and re-paired them again to see it happens again.
We had the same problem with ours. Issues with the screens. Funky graphics. Loss of the entire radio and GPS. This is my second CVO and I experienced the same issues with both. Dealer actually replaced the entire radio on my 2014, but it made no difference. I bought a 2017 CVO limited and we just returned from a 10 day trip down south. For the first part of the trip we experienced the same issue. A friend we were riding with who just bought 2016 ultra limited watched me start my bike one morning. He said I bet that is the problem. You are not letting the GPS and radio system start up before you start the bike. So while getting ready and gearing up I would turn the on accessory switch. Low and behold it seemed to help as we had absolutely no issues during our 450 mile drive that day or for the balance of our trip. I also had an apple iPod plugged in as well. We determined that could have caused some issues too. So I follow the same procedures now, turning on the accessory switch first while gearing up and Ileave the iPad at home. Give it a try. Worked for us.Good luck.
I also Have an iPhone X and have used it for almost a year without issues. I plug it in via usb, start the bike and first the radio will come on, if I have my Apple Music app open it will automatically switch to playing my music after it reads my Iphone is connected. If I stop for gas and restart the boom remembers my phone setting and instantly plays music from where it stopped.
I know you said you were not prompted for a phone update, but make sure you are running 11.4.1. Also just for the heck of it close every app before you connect your phone next time and see if that does anything. I dont do this, but just curious. Lastly power down you phone and restart it before you connect, I have had nothing but iphone since the first one and sometimes they act funky if you dont reboot them occasionally. In you original post you stated that the radio was still on after you killed the motor. If you used the handlebar kill switch that is normal.

I have never used the USB connector on my bike, when ever I want to listen to music on my phone (ITunes) while riding, I always do it via Bluetooth, but one thing that I have to admit to, is that I never turn my phone off, when ever I get home from work, I always put it to charge regardless of battery level, perhaps it's always a good idea to turn your phone off every once in a while and perhaps that will be a good thing for your phone's software, I don't know, just guessing here....

Rebooting is your friend. Whats nice about plugging in via USB is the phone charges at the same time.
