Wind noise alone, will deafen you at highway speeds.
If her exhaust is louder than wind noise, then it's bothering everyone else that shares public roads with her.
Do you not ride?
EVERY rider should be wearing earplugs- they kill the wind noise, so that you can hear sirens, car horns, tires squealing, your own engine, and everything else that a rider needs to hear.
You're kinda a wise-asshat aren't you? I see you are new to the Forum. You wont make many friends here with these kind of comments.
YOu ever think if you need ear plugs to ride it, may be you should put a better muffler on it?
I have found that it is the wind noise for hours on end that cause issues, more so with a full face helmet. If I wear just a skull cap helmet not so much wind noise. Mufflers probably have some affect on noise level but wind noise is a different pitch and causes me issues. I think it depends on the person and their tolerance for noise.
I'm getting them as the few riders I know who wear half helmets and don't use ear plugs (Exhibit A: My main riding partner) can't hear for $hit. He's basically deaf in one ear already. His wife can't hear either as she rides 2 up with him and same thing.
I like the Surefire EP4. They are comfortable and snap fit within your ear. They have an internal plug you can use for extra sound deadening, but it's not needed for riding.
I keep a pair on my bikes, range bags, and jackets.
Foam plugs expand and irratate. They get dirty.
Long highway rides I wear them all the time, but not around town.
. I can here and understand the GPS instructions through my in-helmet headphones perfectly and they drastically decrease the wind-noise.
I put a set of Screaming Eagles on my bike (not really very loud unless I really get on it) , but my concern is the wind, not the pipe.
I like several of the 3-flange earplugs that are made for concerts, etc. Unlike the foam plugs, you can still hear ordinary noise remarkably well, but the wind noise is drastically cut down. They really make riding much more relaxing and enjoyable for me.
