When we bought a 2016 Limited I go to put gas in it for the first time and had to really muscle the cap off. It did not get any better. I’m at the dealership talking to the salesman I bought it from and told him about it. He broke down laughing and went to the back and brought me a new cap. The plastic they had used was not compatible with petroleum products and would swell up. They were made in MEXICO. They replaced it with a Chinese cap and no more problems. Seems there was actually a recall on those.
So, what exactly happens, the O ring shrinks or something ? we haf to know for when these things are out of warranty. Or are we going to replace a gas cap every two years at $59.99 a piece?....
I just had the one on my 2016 slim S replaced a couple of months ago. It was my first Harley and figured the rattling gas cap was just something I had to put up with owning a Harley. The new one isn't much better. Kind of sad they can't get a simple part like that figured out.
