Op- if I were you there's no way I'd be spending money in a shop that doesn't have competent help. Go somewhere where they know what they're talking about.

Now throw in the warranty issue and your dealer variance on what voids it goes ballistic.

I suppose the OP coulda insisted upon taking the parts, then, when he got home, if they didn't fit, take them back with a "OOOOPS!... added on for good measure I never liked the "run around" of getting the wrong parts, but I wouldnt have initially left empty handed.

It's not that hard to pop off the air cleaner and take a look in the parking lot, but I guess that's frowned upon these days.

Sounds just like me when I owned Victory. I am a bit of a forum rat, and I was always expecting to have to explain what I needed to the parts or service guy. Very sad, really.

But they knew every nut and bolt on an ATV!

+1..... too many parts too many fitment options and too many bikes for the guy to know everything

I put a set of Leather rigid mount saddlebags from a Wide Glide on my Super glide. I took a little fanagling because I have the detachable sissy bar. basically what transpired is I have exposed wires to my rear turn signals, as there was no way to run them through to the lights with the docking hardware. Anyways point is, sometimes you cant 100% depend on the parts guy, sometimes you have to figure it out on your own. I know there is a turn signal relocation kit, but the bags have the "cutouts" for the rear turn signals. i wanted to go with that look.

I was at a BBQ this weekend where a wholesale salesman for a major tire company told me that you couldn't put a certain (very popular) tire on 2500 series 3/4 ton pick-up trucks because the tread depth was too deep for 3/4 ton trucks. I said, what if they are rated Load Range E? He said it has nothing to do with the load range - (put your seat belt on, here it comes) he said it's because 2500 series pick-up trucks (irrespective of what engine ???) have too much torque!

They walk and roam among us ladies and gentleman, they walk and roam among us.
Your Road Glide salesman was correct. The USB port charges the phone, and plays media files from the phone, povided the bike is turned on or in accessory mode. An interface cable may be needed.

I agree 100%. I work part time at a Harley Dealership in parts. I have been in to motorcycles for over 20 years and there is no way these guys can know everything about every combination. In a lot of instances, they have to rely on what the computer or books tell them. Now, with that said, air cleaners are a very common thing and one of the first upgrades that people do. So that one is kind of iffy. I can tell you that used to work in one of the larger custom bagger shops in the country for quite some time and I have built more bikes than I can remember. I thought that I knew a lot but since I started working at the dealership, I learn something new every day from my customers.

I look no further than the parts guy's heavily modified Shisuki parked out front to know they don't know squat. And by the looks of the rat bike he rides the parts guys make about as much as a burger flipper.
