Do you wear a helmet? If so, 1/2, FF, 3/4? If you wear a FF, then all you need is the Wind Vest. If one of the other two then a full/compact windscreen. If no helmet then make sure your eyeglasses are secure with a behind the head band to keep them snug against your face because the wind turbulence you get from the shields will bounce your glasses around. This has been my experience.

Default Handlebars

I know you probably really like those bars but they are the reason you are catching so much wind. My street bob came with mini apes, only 12" of rise, and I hated them because of the wind. Put lower bars on the bike and a leather roll bag on top of the headlight and all is well. Putting a windshield on a dyna is like pushing a bill board down the highway. Anything you put in front of the handlebars will block or divert the wind in one way or another.

What about the wind is killing you? The blast to the chest area or eye irritation. I can go all day at 70 or less on back roads. It takes highway speeds on the open 4 lanes to make me not enjoy what's happening:
  • If it's the eyes get a pair of Bobster googles. They work great
  • General air blast I would guess it's the high arm position. The lower bars on the Slim seem to position me to be more aerodynamic.
If you try a small fairing or windshield, sometimes it makes it worse with the infamous buffeting. I'd take wind blast over buffeting any day.

Good Luck with your search.

I use a medium sized quick release windshield for long days or in the winter. It's off of the bike most of the time.

Sorry I don't have a picture from the front:

Just keep riding until you get used to it. I think a fairing or windshield would kill the look.

Personally, I've always liked the feel of the wind in my face, so if it was my bike, I ride it as is.

Check out the Dart flyscreens.. https://aus.dartflyscreens.com/colle...yna-flyscreens
I have the original, it puts the bulk of the wind at nose height on my bike. At 80mph I can cruise with no problems

Handlebars are the problem. You need a slight lean into the wind if you want to haul with no windshield.

Otherwise might want to call the guy, what size to get depends on how you sit in the bike and how far back from the windshield you are.

Net of everything it definitely works, on my old Dyna with an old-school shield-type windscreen my head would shake so hard I could hardly see.

Definitely a quality product, the attachment mechanism feels solid, nice chrome, thick lexan with complex curves, the designer obviously put some thought into it. I don't think it detracts from the look of the bike but I would consider not putting a tinted screen on that gorgeous bike, clear is the way to go
Curious... does the WindVest help with updraft? I've been riding (2014 FLSTC) no windshield and no helmet, which I like... but I understand the reality of nothing being between my face and road debris and bugs. With no windshield and a helmet, my head buffets around pretty badly. With a windshield and a helmet, my head is fine, but I get a really bad updraft. If I'm not wearing the helmet, my beard goes fully horizontal, if not up into my face. Pants legs ride up over my knees... all in all, it's not a great look.

I've tried the fork mounted wind deflectors (fangs). No real help. Added Captain Itch's crotch cooler thinking it might help (it did not, but it looks pretty badass). Not sure if it's an issue with the particular windshield (I've used stock Harley windshield and LRS Recurve). I'd really love to find a windshield that doesn't cause the updraft.
