I was going to buy a LRS, but then Harley released the new Softails. More power, better handling, less vibration and heat. Not for one second do i wish i'd gone with the LRS.
I hear you. I sold my CBR600RR sportbike and got me an FXSTC. I love this bike, but dont like the weight of it and how its not much fun in the twisties. Not sure what i was thinking when i bought it. I need a bike that is lighter and nimble for quick fun rides through the hills. Not a bike that is heavy and is basically just good for the highway. I decided i need to get a naked bike like the Yamaha FZ06. Kind of inbetween a sport bike and a ducati monster...but i am now stuck because i paid 10K for this bike two years ago from a dealership....and to sell it in this day i would prob have to take 6K for it. Was talking to my wife about that, i havent ever had to take a hit when selling a bike, but this time i am going to have to. 4K is a tough pill to swallow for me, but like you said im not getting any younger and life is about enjoying what you ride.
The Fat Boy has an iconic style and they lost it with their new model. It's just fat with clown tires and none of the previous styling. My Lo has a 200 rear and ironically it's fatness is hidden by fender, you have to get behind it and look low to see it's width. Handling wise you just have to take it easy, the floorboards grind, you just back off. It is what it is.
Seems to me like the old Low Rider S was the perfect machine. Find one, hot rod it, abuse it, fix it. There is a certain freedom that comes with a machine that you care about, but not care too much about. Like the pleasure of having an old beater truck that just works.

Wow - I would think the 2016 would be a great bike, being one of the last Dynas. Plus you can get some great sound from that Twin Cam. But what do I know? I've never ridden one.

It is a great bike, if i was going to buy an older Harley it would definitely be the one, but the M8 Softails are better.
I feel where your coming from.. I had a Heritage that I traded for a 114fb. Dont get me wrong, Im enjoying the FB and its not going anywhere but it handles like a barge and wont lean over - totally agree w/ya..
