Never owned 1 but from everything Ive read and heard they are LOUD and the quality doesnt reflect the price......
I had a Ghost Bandit, didn't think it was really loud. Not any worse than my FF Scorpion. Only complaint I had was the D-ring, it was so short. Difficult to fasten. Not sure if it was just the helmet I had or maybe all are like that. Definitely thinking of getting another one.

I've had a Ghost Bandit for about a month. One of the noisiest FF helmets i've ever tried. Definitely need ear plugs with this one, unless you're just riding in town. Not a problem for me as i always wear ear plugs when i'm heading out of town. Only other problem is that it fogs up faster than any other FF i've tried. Pinlock is a must with this helmet. Other than these two minor issues, it's a fantastic helmet. Great fit, good air-flow, really light weight, and it cuts through the air very well.
I broke down and ordered the Mod Bandit. I love it. It's my second modular helmet, so not a lot to compare it to quality and noise wise. It's extremely comfortable. It does run a little large in comparison to the other Simpson helmets. I ordered a Carbon Fiber Ghost Bandit last year and a the medium was too small. Large was out of stock everywhere, so I just shelved the idea. The Mod Bandit medium is a perfect fit. So if you're on the edge of the sizing chart, go smaller. The quality is top notch. the vents are all capable of being closed. I swapped it to a tinted face shield, with an amber internal shield. I love this helmet. It may become my everyday helmet, rather than just my touring/bad weather helmet. I like it that much!
I have the mod bandit and previously had a Neotec. The Simpson build quality is not shoei but it's very good. I don't consider cost at all when purchasing a helmet and I am somewhat of a helmet snob and the Mod Bandit passes all my requirements.
I have the gold shield and the Amber interior visor as well.
Flows air well. Pinlock doesn't work great but surprisingly cracking the visor 1 click prevents fogging 100 percent. Sound isolation is good. On par with the Neotec.
