My statement about JC whitney stuff was for all the covers that had "LIVE TO RIDE" in gold plastic. Removed sissy bar, took off passenger seat, removed windshield (which I have never liked). On another note how does one go about cleaning those rough spoke wheels. I have used de-greaser, mag cleaner, 409, and Goof off Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance Jim
Yep, against your table it has CEM so it is a Hugger. Now, I want to find out what came stock on bike from factory nothing more nothin less. I have found in the past all the "Extra" stuff put on bike is a lost investment
That's a factory tach, most likely sold as the accessory tach package that was available for XL & FXD & probably even dealer installed. Don't go tearing that off, unless you just don't want proper instrumentation.
Good luck on a free/pirated FSM. If yer going to keep the bike, just pony up for the paper version. Best FSM going & a huge resource for wrenching on your bike.
Can someone explain what that pipe is for near the air filter connecting the front/read exhaust pipes, and what years Harley did that?
It evens out back pressure so you get smoother response and better low and mid range power. In 2004 Harley dropped the visible cross pipe on sportsters and now it's a black pipe behind the mufflers most people probably don't even notice. That version does the same thing, just looks better. To me, anyway.

I have to get used to this Harley Davidson stuff - everything costs. This is my first Harley, I normally rebuild British bikes and all of that stuff is free on the net (manuals and such, parts are a different) It seems to me that parts manuals and manuals should be free. Oh well, people want ice water in Hell also. I have a 1970 BSA Firebird Scrambler and a 1978 Triumph T140V. My first thought with this bike a, 2000 883 Hugger, went right along how I go about rebuilding or just refurbishing a British bike was to get Harley manuals as well as owners manual to bring this 883 back to a stock good looking, clean bike, just what came with the bike. As I have been looking on internet I can't get a sense of what came with bike (although I would keep speedo and Tach)..There is not one picture that looks the same.
