I am a former sport touring guy. Logged about 75k miles on my 98 Honda VFR800i with three piece luggage. Open heart surgery at 34 means I can't sit over the tank anymore. Now I work at a Harley dealer and will likely be getting a Heritage soon. I spent years **** talking cruisers, then I came here and started riding them. Broke my brain on the issue, and now I don't think I could ever go back even if my chest could hold up.
you may gather from my screen name that when I joined I had a Kawi ZRX 1200r
I had the 03 ZRX, and the 03 Bagger, then added a 03 Kawi ZZR1200 to the stable....
I sold off the ZRX in 2014, and traded the ZZR in on the 13 Limited stage 4
This past summer I picked up a new 2017 Kawi Concours14 to the collection, with the intention of having the 13 Bagger and the 17 Kawi in NH, and the 03 Harley on Florida.
Ufortunately the 03 in Florida has some major issues and I just called the trucking company to go get the 13 Limited out of the garage and bring it to me in Florida, and take the 03 back north where I am going to pull the driveline out of it and rebuild the engine, primiary and transmission and put a new belt on it
So until I get around to fixing the 03 Bagger, my primary bike in NH will be the 17 Kawi crotch rocket
What a hoot...I am planning on a cup holder for the Ultra Limited too!
I cannot say I ever did the 'crotch rocket' thing but I do have a resident road rocket that growls and can lift the front end just by cracking the throttle (my BMW K1200GT) in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. As much as I enjoy my Limited I do need my 'fix' occasionally. It's like an F1 bike with luggage. Somehow I have managed to keep my license all these years!
This is probably as close as I'm going to get to a sportbike. Kind of looks like a sport bike from the front, till you see where the gas tank... isn't. No reason to limit yourself to just Harleys. Have a variety, including a couple Russian bikes and a trailbike. They're all fun.
Yep..... Longtime crotchrocket guy here. Last was a R1. Was looking at the switch when the moco figured it out with the LRS. Grabbed a 17 LRS and have done alot to it to.make it work for me. Always liked baggers and grabbed a 16 Streetglide and have done alot to that too. But thats part of the cool of HD is making em work for you. Dig em both....... But honestly the next addition will be a Monster.
I thought buying a Bandit 1200s would slow me down a bit. It didnt. Hard not to twist the throttle to get that buzz. My buddy was bugging me to try a HD and always liked the look of them. Took a new limited out for a test run for a few hours and probably the first time i had a smile on my face just cruising around.Tunes playing Still got lots of power but completely different thrill and one more suited to not losing my licence. Absolutely love it.
