I am having a sudden issue trying to start my 1996 FLHTC.I get no power when i turn the ignition switch on.I hear a clicking coming from the relay mounted to the left side speaker inside the front fairing.Does anyone know what is causing no power?I have a brand new battery installed and i keep it on a tender but still no power.I have checked the battery connections and they are tight.I was just riding last week parked it now no power.
Do you have access to a volt meter? You will need that to chase out the wiring and check voltage and loads.
Yes i do have a meter.Im looking through my service manual and original parts numbers book to see if i can trace what i should be testing.I havent done any electrical work in at least a couple years so im probably a little rusty.I graduated from a motorcycle institute so should be able to refresh my experience with it.Any advice or suggestions from anyone would still ve helpful and definately appreciated. Thanks
Brand new battery means nothing. Most are only 70% unless charged 24 hours or so on a less the 1 amp maintenance charger.
That click means voltage is going to starter. Probably just not enough amps to pull in selenoid magnet on starter to engage starter.
I know what the clicking means my issue is im getting no lights no green neutral indicator light no gauges no gauge lights no radio nothing.Cant understand why?It started right up last week went for a ride came home parked it put back on battery tender.Went to start it a few days ago now no power
Is there a possibility that circuit breaker is tripping since you describe NO lights, no green neutral indicator light, no gauges, no gauge lights, no radio, nothing.
