I agree seats make a big difference, but also look into handle bars. I have quarter apes on mine and a nice comfy seat and I'm great for 100's of miles
Yeah, you may need to get it a little time to see if you get used to it or if your back continues to hurt. First day. 150 Miles. What happen to easing into it? Your back may have hurt no matter what handlebars or seat you have.
Just kidding.... That's what some butt head told me a few years back when my hands would go numb and back would hurt after long rides. Found out I was holding the grips to tight. After I eased up on my grip all was good to go.
I bought it about three weeks ago and some how put 100 miles on it just buzzing here and there. No soreness doing that. Yesterday was a non-stop trip of 150 mi. Lower back is just tight today. The bike ran great with no problems. I'll take that over being comfortable and a broke down bike. I'm shoot for utopia though!
Funny! I told someone I bought a Superglide, but I don't think he knew is was a HD. He has a Goldwing and felt I needed to know how much better of a bike his was over a HD. I let him go on for a while then said, "you know, a Superglide is a HD Dyna bike"? He said oh yeah, I know, but it was different in the past. I said I would have a broke-down HD vers. a running HONDA! No more was said after that.
Ya better buy the seat first!!! Ya go out and find the bars that fit then you upgrade the seat that sets different then your back where you were.. Get the seat and the bars at the same time!! Ain't got the money??? Then wait cause I promise you ya buy the bars that fit great when you change the seat you will be pissed!!!!!!!!!!!
Will never forget that poor snoz I saw pushing his red Goldwing down the highway on a blistering summer day. Turns out it was just a stupid bad relay (Jap bike electronicsgive outbig time. I had no other major problemsexcept plenty electrical headaches with the ricers I have had). But the only Honda shop in Covington, LA would not open on Sunday to sell himthat stupid little relay. So, he was still pushin it toward a local do em all shop last time I saw him. Sure looked heavy
Course Harley parts and Sales are open on Sunday too.
I had an 02 Super Glide and had the same problem, then I got a set of pull back risers, that did the trick. If that does not work for you try a riders backrest, or a different seat.

Good friend told me once "quit whining and adjust your bars", what a differance a quarter inch made. Also put a folded towel (Black) behind me an the seat and used it to dial my seat in, then had it redone local.
