This, I enjoy checking out all kinds of bikes and it sometimes reaffirms why I would never buy certain ones. The group I ride with has a couple of Harley riders but is a pretty mixed group. On one ride this new guy showed up claiming he was a former Harley tech and he would never buy one because they had too many issues and went on and on, blah, blah, blah. He spurted out something like a Harley has 50 gaskets and my Victory only has 5, why do you need so many gaskets? I actually got a good chuckle out of his spewing mouth. Never did see him on another ride again though.
I kind of enjoy it because it usually exposes their ignorance.
Why is there so much passion/hate towards HD? A lot of my people that I know ride metric bikes (euro and asian), it's like they obsess over it it. They save up their talking points and spew them out when they see me. And I'm like what are you talking about, why do you even care? I think they Harley Derangement Syndrome.
Never had anybody do that to me,
Course I don't talk to a lot of people anyhow,
My Harley friends will make me ride in the back when I ride my rice. So to keep them talking **** I bought a Tokyo Harley Davidson shirt for my brother's to conversate over. They laughed thier *** off the first time I wore it. It's all good.
Personally riding with a group is too dam slow .
One has to ****,
Then stop for the other guy that needs a cigarette .whats his face needs a beer..
Next someone hears a noise and needs to stop and look for that .....................
I went with a group a while back, it took 10 hours to do 150 miles.
No thanx.
I'll tell ya this for a fact though and you can quote it. "I've pushed a HECK of lot more Hondas than I have Harleys."
My experience has been exactly the opposite, particularly during the AMF years.

I like mine too. I suppose there are some import riders who say it, but I've never heard I'd rather push work on etc my _____ import than ride a Harley. Every time I've heard that expression, it was I'd rather work on my Hog than ride a rice burner. Usually heard during the AMF years after someone says to the AMF Harley owner, You're having to fix something on your Harley again? while the import owners are just riding. In fact, one Harley owner implied reliability and QC with the Japanese bikes was somehow a bad thing, because the rice burner owners didn't have to work on their rides as much, and therefore weren't as knowledgable about the mechanics of the motorcycle itself.

The WW2 guys are gone.
I do have my own preferences..and I don't care what anyone else thinks,
if they can think an original thought not lifted from somewhere else.
If........
And yet there are still some MC clubs that say in their rules for membership no imports, American Made only. And by American made, I don't mean a foreign brand like Honda made in the US. I'm not referring to brand specific groups like owners groups either.

I've run into that crap too on occasion. Thankfully there were a few groups that I went with that were LD runs had better organization than that, and kept things pretty much moving as steadily as possible. One guy questioned prior to the start of one of the LD rides whether I'd be able to keep up with the group with just my little Sportster but I had no trouble at all. (I don't however have the standard rear gear in mine)
