My wife and I are going on a 4-6 week cross country trip on my 08 ultra ,looking for a decent head set for us to talk .. I have the factory sets , but need something with more volume for myself I am hard of hearing . Anyone have a brand or model that would work ? preferably with individual volume controls THANKS
Go get some foam ear plugs and put them in before your ride. They actually take out a lot of the wind noise and allow you to hear the actual speaker in your ear. I know it sounds crazy but it's pretty much free to try.
Just go to a local hardware store for the foam earplugs and giveit a shot. Let us know what happens!
But the foam ear plugs also block the sound from the headset.
I have some hearing loss too, the best and loudest solution I found was a Sena SMH10R with the speakers removed and an ear bud adapter. I then used some Plug Phones ear buds, they are like the foam hearing protection with ear phones built in. Unfortunately the little wires on my Sena broke.
You'd probably be best off trying out several models of headsets, If such a thing is possible. Make sure you can return if they don't work for you. Nobody can really tell you what you'll be able to hear, you'll have to figure that out for yourself by trying them.
Cardo out perfroms Sena in every way. Go on YouTube and look at the reviews. Cardo is water proof and has voice command and the distance between units is also much better. Traffic and land scape has a big effect on Sena, Cardo it doesn't.

In other words, buy off of Amazon.
For just you and your wife a Cardo Freedom2 will fill the bill.
My wife is hard of hearing and does fine with this unit with or without erplugs
